The Heart of Our Story
Manx Growers Network grew from a moment of reflection at the start of the pandemic, when the Isle of Man’s reliance on outside food sources became strikingly clear.
In response, I helped found Manx People’s Community Support (MPCS) to offer guidance during those uncertain times. One of our focus groups was dedicated to action: creating food resilience through local growing. That’s when I began knocking on farmers’ doors, looking for a place to grow.
Â
I was fortunate to find a retiring market grower willing to let me continue cultivating their land. That led to Thrive Farms—a community-driven project growing local produce and fostering connection. After three years of successes and challenges—selling at markets and even running a local produce shop—I saw a bigger opportunity.

Many experienced growers had surplus harvests, while new growers wanted guidance. Manx Growers Network is the evolution of that journey. It’s a space where we support each other—whether you need help starting your growing space or you’re ready to share your knowledge. Together, we’re growing more than food—we’re cultivating a stronger, more resilient community, one grower at a time.
